Suzaku of Japan and Lelouch of Britania were boyhood friends. When the Holy Empire of Britannia invaded Japan and conquered the country, it was declared "Area 11" and its proud people reduced to being "Elevens." Seven years later, Lelouch and Suzaku, now honorary Britannians, are in high school, resigned to the fact that they can do little to change the world around them.
When Lelouch encounters C.C., a mysterious girl who gives him the power of Geass, allowing him to control minds, Lelouch dons a mask and becomes a ruthless terrorist known as Zero. However, Suzaku's life changes unexpectedly as well when he is chosen by a Britannian scientist to test a bionic combat suit and serve as a Britannian soldier under the alias of "Lancelot" and stop Zero.
As the two childhood friends unwittingly oppose one another, Suzaku aligns himself with Second Prince Schneizel, believing that the prince can bring about the ideal world. When Suzaku learns Zero's true identity and Schneizel's true intentions, the two friends must join forces to stop Schneizel's ultimate plan to gain immortality.
