Background[]

Hoping to retrieve Nunnally from the Holy Britannian Empire and convince her to join him, Zero and the Black Knights stage an ambush over the Pacific to kidnap the upcoming Viceroy of Area 11.

The Battle[]

The Black Knights, using helicopters to carry Knightmares, advance towards Nunnally's escort, Zero warning them not to harm Nunnally in anyway. From one of the Caerleon-class battleships, gunships deploy to try to shoot down the Knights. They successfully shoot down Yoshitaka Minami in his Burai, who ejects. The Knights' transports then cover the area in green smoke, scrambling the gunships' vision. While the enemy is distracted, Kallen, Tohdoh, and the Four Holy Swords then land on the Logres-class flagship and its bodyguard ships. Above them, the Britannian ships concentrate their firepower on the smoke, inadvertently destroying their own VTOL gunships, having been baited as Lelouch planned. At this point, Ohgi leads the Knights' helicopters away while his allies begin to focus on the flagship.

Upson attempts to order out more air units, as well as ordering his escort ships to attack as well. However, he's warned that he can't do so - the enemy is attacking their Float Units and their shields are still up, leaving them with no choice but to wait an hour for reinforcements. Zero then enters the flagship interior and Geasses everyone in his way to die, trying to find Nunnally. From the ship he's on, Asahina, using his Gekka's Slash Harken, swings from an enemy gunship onto the flagship. Meanwhile, the Four Holy Swords continue to fight, destroying 3 of the 4 Caerleon-class ships. They and Kallen are then attacked by Knightmares coming from the rear: a team of 3 Gloucesters led by Guilford in his new Vincent Commander Model, all fitted with Float Units, with the Avalon approaching as well. Guilford takes out Sugiyama, who ejects, before fighting Kallen, just as Zero comes to the garden to the rear of the bridge and finds Nunnally.

As Zero tries to reason with Nunnally, the battle continues outside. At this point, Kallen and Tohdoh work together to defeat David, Tohdoh catching him with his unit's Harken as Kallen grinds along it and blasts David with her Radiant Wave Surger, though David manages to eject. Gino then appears in the Tristan, using its Fortress Mode and Slash Harken to destroy a Burai. Asahina tries to shoot him down, but is surprised when the Tristan transforms, allowing Gino to destroy his unit using the Tristan's MVSs. Asahina manages to eject in time. The last Caerleon-class ship then loses control, beginning to fall towards the flagship. Anya promptly destroys the falling ship using the Mordred's Stark Hadron Cannon. As she does, Suzaku takes an airship to the Avalon to prepare to join the battle. Upson, meanwhile, desperate to prove himself gets into a gun turret. He tries to kill Tohdoh, but ends up shooting out his own ship's engine and promptly gets killed himself.

After this, Senba and Tohdoh board the flagship to look for Zero, unable to contact him due to their signals being scrambled by the smoke. Tohdoh intends to bring Chiba and Kallen along to aid them, but Gino suddenly appears, killing Senba using his MVSs. Guilford attacks as well, severing the right arm of Tohdoh's unit. Suzaku, at the same time, reaches the Avalon and boards the Lancelot, which is upgraded to the Lancelot Conquista. Lloyd and Cecile then brief him on the situation - Upson destroyed the flagship's 2nd Float Unit, but the 3rd and 4th Units remain active, so before long, the ship will crash into the sea. Cecile begins scanning for the beacon in Nunnally's wheelchair and clearing the signal. She provides the schematic of the flagship to Suzaku as well. Suzaku then launches from the Avalon, shooting at Kallen with his V.A.R.I.S., but she blocks him with her Surger. Chiba tells her to hide, but Kallen says she must remain to protect her allies. Suzaku then attacks her with his new Hadron Blaster, overwhelming and shattering her Surger arm and damaging her unit's head, causing Kallen to fall from the ship. Kallen tries to eject, but her ejection block fails. Anya then surprises Chiba, crushing her unit with the Mordred. Chiba tries to slash at her with her Katen Yaibatou, but it is ineffective, forcing her to eject.

As Kallen keeps falling, Rakshata suddenly phones in along with C.C. and Kaguya aboard the Black Knights' submarine. Rakshata informs her that she has prepared the new Air Glide System for the Guren, which will be deployed from the submarine. As the Glide System launches, Kallen ejects her machine's damaged arm and head parts before rotating it, allowing it to interlock with the new Glide System as well as receiving a new head unit. Additionally, Rakshata launches a new powerful Right Arm-Inbuilt Armor-Piercing Bombardment-Type Radiation Wave Unit, which combines with the Guren to replace the arm Suzaku destroyed. As the Guren Mk-II completes its reconfiguration into the new Guren Flight-Enabled Version, Kallen takes into the air and rejoins the battle.

As Kallen approaches, Tohdoh is forced to eject from his unit and flee. Guilford and his men move to pursue him as Gino and Anya stay to protect Nunnally. When they notice the Guren ascending, Guilford's team tries to shoot Kallen, but she blocks their bullets and destroys the Knightmares with a massive long-range radiation beam, forcing Guilford to flee. Gino and Anya then take on Kallen as well. Gino advances using the Tristan's Fortress Mode, evading a second a long-range beam from Kallen. He tries to shoot her down with his Slash Harkens and guns, but she evades. Anya tries to down her with her Stark Hadron Cannon, but Kallen evades again and kicks at the Mordred's head. Unperturbed, Anya tries to catch Kallen with the Mordred's missiles, but Kallen blocks them using her Surger. Kallen then, this time, fires a wide-range radiation burst, as strong as the beam from before, dealing enough damage to temporarily disable the Tristan and Mordred.

Kallen then goes after Suzaku, using a Gefjun Net, a mobile version of the Gefjun Disturber, to trap him in place. Due to the Lancelot's new countermeasure, it remains flying. Suzaku attacks with his Hadron Blaster, but Kallen evades, attacking him head on with her Surger. Suzaku blocks her using his MVS and Blaze Luminous. At that moment, Cecile informs Suzaku of Nunnally's location - in the garden at the rear of the main bridge. However, Suzaku has only 47 seconds left to save her. Kallen then surprises Suzaku with her Slash Harken, damaging the Lancelot's face. Fleeing from Kallen, Suzaku activates the Lancelot's new Core Luminous Cone, using it to breach the ship. When he does, Suzaku creates an air vacuum that causes Zero to start flying in midair while he attempts to get Nunnally. Suzaku then takes Nunnally into the Lancelot's arms, and using the Core Luminous Cone, escapes with her just as the ship crashes. Just as it does, Zero is rescued by Kallen who catches him with the Guren.

Aftermath[]

Following this battle, Nunnally is instated as the new Viceroy of Area 11. Having heard her intentions, Lelouch suffers a crisis of conscience and nearly gives up on being Zero.
